Pets are welcome at all tent and RV sites, but are not welcome inside the yurts or on the beaches. Guests can swim in Fallen Leaf Lake, even though there are no. Otherwise, head over to Lake Tahoe to get your swim in. Fishing is available at both lakes, but anglers generally have better luck at Lake Tahoe. There are no designated swimming beaches on Fallen Leaf Lake, so only swim there if you’re a strong swimmer with proven abilities. Great hike Take a good amount of water if doing the whole loop. There are several small hiking trails that you can reach from the campground. The Fallen Leaf Lake Trail is an 8.1 mile loop that is great for activities year round. The recreation opportunities include water sports like waterskiing, boating, tubing, windsurfing, fishing and swimming, and hiking. ![]() Modern restrooms are available, but you do have to pay to use the showers. You are not allowed to cook in the yurts. Sleeping arrangements include a futon and bunk bed. Each is elevated off the ground and has electric lighting and heat, but no actual electric plug-ins. In the yurts, you can fit up to six travelers. Tent and RV sites are paved for easy parking and each site comes with a campfire ring, grill, picnic table, and even a bear-proof storage locker (yes, there are bears here, so you’ll want to be alert and follow good wildlife rules). Even though you can’t see the lake, you’ll still enjoy the beautiful views of mother nature. The campsites themselves are often surrounded by towering, beautiful trees, boulders, and occasionally, patches of wildflowers. ![]() Instead, this is a vibrant, bustling campground where you’ll find plenty to do, lots of friendly campers to talk to, and memorable experiences to make. Open May-October, you won't find as many crowds here as you would at Lake Tahoe, but still, this is a popular choice for those visiting, so don’t come to this particular campground if you’re wanting seclusion. In addition to the 206 RV and tent sites, there are six yurts. With 206 sites, this is a pretty large campground. The picturesque Fallen Leaf Campground sits on the shore of Fallen Leaf Lake, near Lake Tahoe.
